Done...but not done!

OK, so here are some pictures of my dress (sorry no make-up).  I was going to wear it yesterday but decided not to.  When I thought it was done I decided it needs a little more tweaking.  Here's what I mean...
I really need to take it in  a bit,  in the second photo I'm holding the back in about 3" in the waist area and I think it makes enough difference to rip the zipper out and take it up a bit in the back seam.  The fabric is a cotton with some lycra, so I think that will work out fine.  The jacket...I could really do without, I do like it better open than closed though.
Actually I could take it or leave it.  It really needs to be a couple inched longer (in the front).  I might make one in another style just because it's just a good summer staple.

So, there you have it.  I like the dress and with that one little alteration I think it will be good to go.  As for the jacket this one isn't working for me (my fault) being too short, but I make another one and see how that works.
More later...

Update... I made the alteration and it looks much better.  SO, now it's done!  Thanks for your suggestions and comments, you all are great!!

HAPPY SEWING!!

I like the dress, great fabric choice. I know what you mean about the jacket I made a similar one last summer and didn't wear it much.

Good job on the dress! I agree, taking the three inches off will make for a better fit. As far as the jacket goes, I like it on you. I think it looks okay at that length on you.

This dress is lovely on you. Definately take out the few inches as it shows off your lovely figure. Love the fabric too - a winner all round

Great dress! You're right abut taking it in, but the length I think is finein the front. And, I happen to think the jacket is good with it.

Taking the 3 inches will be worth it for your beautiful new dress.

Thanks ladies, I did the adjustment and it worked out well. So, now it's DONE!

What a difference that adjustment makes! Love that color on you. For the jacket, you could add a band to the bottom, if you have any remaining fabric.

I think it turned out lovely and looks great on you. I agree with taking it in some; it's even more flattering on you. I personally think it looks better without the jacket.... Well done!

This is cute! This is the second time I've seen this dress made by someone. It looks like the perfect summer dress. I am so mad I didn't pick this one up at the last Simplicity sale.

You were right about the alteration, a pain to do when you thought you were finished but really worth it. Great dress, you look fabulous in red.

Beautiful dress, and that color is a great choice for you. I have a cropped jacket like that too, and as much as I would love to wear it all the time, it just doesn't go well with everything. It has something to do with the proportions. Maybe your jacket will look better with a different ensemble. I hope you feel great in your dress cause you look fab!
