Sliver Spring Sewing Meet-up

I've been meaning to post about the sewing meet-up I started a few months ago. Silver Spring Sewing Meet-up. I'd been away from sewing for quite a few years and wanted some sewing friends to help be get motivated to sew. So, I happened upon this "Meet-up" website and decided to use it to meet some sewing friends. This is a wonderful group of ladies that range from beginning to intermediate sewers. We meet once per month and have loads of fun. A couple of us help teach the beginners and everyone shares what they know and we all learn together. Here's a few pictures from a couple of our meet-ups

On average about 8-10 people participate per meeting and we meet in a meeting room at a local library. It's a great way to meet new friends. I look forward to seeing how we all grow together in the coming year. Later I'll post pictures of some of the completed projects.

It must be great to have real live people to sew with. Online sewing buddies are nice, but "ain't nothin' like the real thing"

That is so great to have sewing buddies and I agree with Elaray that online buddies are nice, but can't beat the real thing.

Yes, we've had lots of fun together this year. However, I treasure my online buddies too, I'm constantly inspired by my online buddies & wish we were all on a little island somewhere to do nothing but crafts. OK, I know I'm dreaming!

Happy Sewing, Knitting & whatever else you do. I enjoy seeing all the different crafts.

Hi Omega. I love the pics that you posted. We all have busy lives, but maybe some of the more advanced sewers that visit your blog may be inspired to start one in their area.

I know that you must be glad that you did. Us beginnners (I'll speak for myself) need all of the help we can get. God bless and thank you. -J

Wao, Omega you are so lucky. I have been looking around for a group like this. I am a beginner sewist and we just moved to Calgary, and since we moved here in August,I have been calling all the sewing stores to find out if they know of any sewing group.
I just pray I get one like this in the new year. It's frustrating without sewing buddies, I do everything on my own with the help of my mirror....

What a lovely idea. It's so nice to share a common interest with other people.

That is such a good idea. The only friend I have that sews lives about 45-60 minutes away. I might have to look into starting one at my library. Until I found the sewing blogs I was beginning to think that nobody sewed anymore, maybe a group like this will flush out the sewers in my area.
